This section was really amazing because as you were frantically tapping triangle you started to think to yourself "My body just can't do this." and I'd say that's pretty meaningful considering Snake's condition.

I think MGO is great. I never really got into COD4 because it was just too simple: Spawn; Run; Shoot; Die; Spawn etc. That's why I liked Warhawk so much because there was a pretty wide variety of things you could do.
Same with MGO. There are so many different ways you can play the game. You can snipe, you can go all out Rambo, you can work as a team, you can go it alone, you can use CQC, you can use your knife, you can play dead and ambush people, you can hide in a box and ambush...

While I don't agree with this trailer on a moral level (I don't like it when people make a big show of how much better they are than the competition) it is bloody funny.
GTA IV for me, as well as many others, WAS a let down. Once the story is over there's not much to do. While the story is taking place there's not much to do so you end up just doing missions which means it ends faster leaving you with even less to do. Rockstar seem to have got lost in all the fancy lighting techn...

MGS3 literally had me welling up at the end of the game. I can think of only one other game that achieved that and that was Shadow of the Colossus.
Solid Snake is, for me, the most rounded, memorable, super-frikkin-cool character I have seen in a piece of media and you don't get that from having a 5 minute cutscene in between hour long sessions of shooting members of evil-alien-race #763 in the face.

Yeah, Ocelot's revolver was great. You didn't even have to be facing the right way to get a kill. But yeah, cheap as hell.

Lot's of good memories. CQC fights on the warehouse roof, sneaking up on the campers on top of the tall buildings, myself camping on the tall buildings. Good times.
Playing as Snake rocked something wicked but was really difficult. Just makes the win even more tasty though.

The legendary 2.00 was smaller than this (assuming everything we've heard is true) so surely this should be like FW 10.00 or something. I expect they're saving that one for Home though.
Good news though. This and MGS4 will make this one hell of a month for Playstation gaming.
I think he's trying to be too much like a westerner. Now by no means do I class myself as an expert on Japanese culture but it was my understanding that they tended not to boats and act like arrogant kids. This guy has seen that there's money to be made in the west and hence has tried to make himself more appealing to us. Unfortunately, he's overcompensated a little and just comes across as an arrogant pr!ck, even by our standards.

Why give the game to a reviewer that isn't a fan of the series? This game is the final entry in an extremely story driven saga that plays like no other game on the planet and is full of quirky in-jokes. This game is, without a doubt a game that only fans of the series are going to get the most from. It'd be like giving a wine critic a happy meal to review. They'd be looking in all the wrong places trying to get the aroma and stuff and completely miss what makes happy meals great(?)
If it wasn't for MGS4 and LBP I'd be right there with you friend. :P
